On the Coghinas river (in some points no wider than 2 m.) you can learn about the area of Valledoria under a different point of view. Far from civility, in fact, there is still an uncontaminated nature, which has become hard to find in Europe.
The calmness and solitude which reign here have made it so that, the whole riverbed, transformed itself in an ideal habitat for several species of water birds, where you can admire the lifestyle of domestic animals (cows and sheep) in a wild state. For this reason this part of our area is under protection of the European Comunity. The descent begins near the Casteldoria baths and ends by the river outlet into the beautiful sandy coast of the St. Peter beach.
Thanks to this calmness canoeing can be practiced by everybody, that means also families with children can enjoy this wonderful part of Sardinian nature. Nearby the delta of the Coghinas river a professional conducted canoe centre (New Kayak Sardinia by Vittoria Marras) offers excursions (single or double canoes) for experts and beginners all year (during winter preferably on weekend).
Horse riding in Sardinia
Sardinia is famous for its horses. Next to horse breeding, horse riding as a hobby has developed. About 500m. from the "SA Fiorida" Holiday homes, on the premises of the Riding Club (open year round) it is possible to: Attend one week long schooling courses with a teacher (Operator A.N.T.E. and Regional Endurance Champion) -1 hour, half a day or whole day excursions - rides on the beach and in the St. Peter's pine forest, along the coast between La Ciaccia and Castelsardo and also in the hinterlands.
Diving in Sardinia
Departing from the beach of La Ciaccia you can dive into the gorgeous sea beds of our sea, full of marine flora and fauna which represent a true natural reserve.
The Batrakos Diving, one of the Resort Padi centres along the northern coast of Sardinia, is located in Castelsardo (7 miles from Valledoria), ancient town of the XI century, overlooking the Asinara Gulf. Amongst the staff, the instructors Antonello and Romano, guarantee professionalism and liking by organizing guided skin diving excursions in the sea beds of Castelsardo with over 20 diving points and organizing scuba diving courses with FIPSAS/CMAS and PADI didactics at all levels starting from beginner up to skin diving guide.
At the skin diving school (Costa Paradiso) you can enjoy: PADI courses (one week long) and diving choosing among the Full Day, Week End or Blue Week formula. The centre is also equipped to recharge the oxygen tanks and rent diving equipment.
Windsurf in Sardinia
The characteristics of our sea permit, during the whole of the year, to practice Windsurf Wave. There aren't many resorts with these requirements. When the north-west wind blows, all the athletes from the northern coast go and do Wave in La Ciaccia which has become the aim of the greatest surfers (Tavazzi, Sieni, Polano, Passino, Tortu, Egris and Mossa) of this specialty, whom, by using the waves as launching trampolines, make their sailboards vault in the air trying to do some looping. Good possibilities to do surfing are also given by the west and grecale winds. Instead for the beginners, at about 1km. there's a school which will let them learn this sport, both on the sea and in the bed on the delta of the Coghinas river. It is also possible to rent Sailboards, pedal boats and Canoes at the school.

Leolù, the admiral boat of our fleet, is a "fisherman" of about 10 m. with two very new 250 T.D. horse-powered motors, completely equipped for tuna, day and night time rod or drift trolling fishing excursions, with live bait or with rapala.
It is also great for one or more day trips, the boat has four beds, shower, kitchen, refrigerator and a large catch basin to stay out in the fresh air, all thought of rationally and with high quality building techniques.
During the day trips the coves of Paradise Coast are visited with several stops in the most fascinating places of our coast, always in total security and in utter relaxation.
Trekking, biking & climbing in Sardinia
Luckily in Sardinia we aren't missing "ways", most of which are truly fascinating, for climbers to prove their own abilities. And many more are being opened continuously. In the north the most notorious ones are Capo Caccia (Alghero), Capo Testa (Santa Teresa), Aggius, Osilo, Chighizzu (Sassari) and Monteleone Roccadoria.
These places are located in a radius between 13 and 50 miles around our resort. Limestone is among the most appreciated rocks for this sport and Sardinia is full of it. But there are also abundant natural beauties which makes this island a real living paradise for climbers from all over the world. The view from the natural terraces right over the sea of Capo Caccia in indescribable........
Even the hinterland of Valledoria keeps savage and hardly known corners, where it you can take venture in absolute solitude. Once reached the peak of Mount Ossoni (Valledoria), of San Gavino (10 km from Valledoria) or Mount Ruiu (7 km from Valledoria: with equipped wall) the hiker is gifted with marvellous sights over the Gulf of the Asinara. Mount Limbara, aim of both hikers and free climbers, with its extraordinary panorama embraces even the coasts of Corsica.
These areas are also highly recommanded for who likes trekking and biking. Sardinia isn't organised as well as for example the northern part of Italy (special signs and maps) but offers much more paths and streets in the amazing nature. Around our locality Valledoria one will find more then 40 miles ideally for everybody - also for families with children.
Especially the pleasant temperatures in autumn, winter and spring time allows one to practice this sport the whole year.
